The charm of the Taj Mahal is never ending. If you are in Delhi, then you can't afford to miss visiting the Taj Mahal. It is known as the seventh wonder of the world; it stands picture perfect depicting a true Mughal architectural masterpiece. Imagine the 17th century, when there was no science, no gadgets, no instruments; it was sheer hardwork and dedication that produced the masterpiece. The Taj is a true love symbol from a king to his beloved queen. The Immortal Signature of Love - There is no other monument in the world, which can match the beauty and grandeur of the Taj Mahal. Set amongst the serene ambience of a well laid out garden, the massive marble structure of the Taj is awe-inspiring. The Taj Mahal was built in the 17th century by Shahjahan, the fifth Mughal emperor, in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Shahjahan loved his wife so much that after she passed away in 1631, he decided to immortalize their love in the form of the Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal is a magnificent symbol of great Mughal architecture. The Architecture of the Taj Mahal is a combination of various styles followed by people of different religions, such as Persian, Roman, and Mughal. The main architect of Tajmahal was Istad Usa, who was an Iranian. The architectural structure of the Taj can be divided into five segments. Inside The Taj Mahal ¤ The Taj Mahal is situated more than 900 ft. (275 m.) away from the entrance. ¤ Towering almost 200 ft. (76m.) in height, the tomb stands on its own marble plinth. ¤ Four tall minarets rise up from the corners of the white marble plinth. ¤ They taper to a majestic height of 138 ft and are crowned with eight windowed cupolas. The marble mausoleum is square in plan with chamfered corners. Each section in the facade is well demarked on both sides by attached pilasters which rising from the plinth level of the tomb rise above the frieze and are crowned by beautiful pinnacles with lotus buds and finials. The pinnacles ornament the superstructure and help scrape the skyline gracefully.

Fatehpur Sikri: Built during the second half of the 16th century by the Emperor Akbar, Fatehpur Sikri (the City of Victory) was the capital of the Mughal Empire for only some 10 years. The complex of monuments and temples, all in a uniform architectural style, includes one of the largest mosques in India, the Jama Masjid. Itmad-ud-daulah (baby Taj) : The Itmad-ud-Daulah Tomb is the first tomb in India built entirely in white marble. The tomb is also justly famous for the glorious pietra dura (stone inlay) decoration depicting cypresses, wine glasses, and an amazing variety of geometrical arabesque. The jali (net) screens set in arched recesses are splendid. Four small minarets rise at the four corners of the small tomb structure. The whole structure gives the impression of an enlarged precious object. Due to the profusion of intricate work done on marble and the beautiful marble screen-work, the tomb easily qualifies as a veritable forerunner of the famous Taj Mahal.
