Detailed Trip Description
The Botswana Explorer is a limited participation camping safari. Visitors travel to some of Africa's most magnificent destinations, like the Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve, Chobe National Park and Victoria Falls. Regular departures operate in both directions between Maun and Victoria Falls. Several of the departures have been set to facilitate combining the Botswana Explorer safari with the Kalahari/Okavango Venture (15 Day Parks of Botswana - Tour Code KO).
Trip Itinerary
Day 1-2 - Maun
Maun, Okavango Delta.
Private Jet
From Maun we transfer by small planes into the heart of the delta.
Safari
Here we take out "mokoro" (dugout canoes) to explore the crystal clear channels, islands and waterways, and undertake game viewing walks on the islands.
Camping
Our two overnights are spent at our Afro Ventures campsite in a private concession area, with a complement of camp staff to cater for you.
Day 3-4 - Maun
Moremi Game Reserve.
Private Jet
Return flight to Maun.
Safari
We negotiate the sandy tracks to Moremi - tucked into the north-eastern sector of the Okavango. The reserve was set aside in 1963 by the Batawana tribe, and is rated as Africa’s most beautiful wildlife sanctuary. Our days are spent on extensive game viewing drives.
Camping
Camping out in Moremi Game Reserve.
Day 5-8 - Savuti
Chobe National Park.
Camping
We travel up to Savute and spend two nights camped next to the dry Savute Channel.
Safari
From November to July huge animal concentrations are attracted to this area, and Savute is excellent for lion and other predator viewing.
Safari
From Savute we move up to northern Chobe and camp for two nights at Serondela on the Chobe river. This is the heart of elephant country and here we have an opportunity to spend many hours watching the huge herds in and around the waters of the Chobe River. Northern Chobe has beautiful scenery and magnificent sunsets, with a large variety of bird and animal life.
Camping
At certain times of the year we may overnight at different areas of Chobe National Park. Camping in Chobe National Park.
Day 9 - Victoria Falls
Victoria Falls.
Private Car Service
It’s a short drive from Chobe to Victoria Falls, one of the world’s most awe-inspiring sights.
Safari
Our stay here is always welcomed as a chance to wash off Botswana’s dust, relax over a cold beer, and enjoy the varied entertainment and facilities at Victoria Falls. Your entrance fee to the falls is included in the safari fare.
Sightseeing
Spend the rest of the day at leisure, pursuing the various optional excursions available at Victoria Falls (the Flight of Angels, the African Spectacular Tribal Dancing, craft markets, visit to the Craft Village and Crocodile Farm).
Food and Dining
The evening meal is at your own expense.
Hotel
Overnight accommodation is at the Rainbow Hotel on a bed and breakfast basis. (Lunch and dinner today is for your own account.)
Day 10 - Victoria Falls
Airport Transfer
After breakfast at the hotel, the safari ends.
