Trip Itinerary

Day 1-2 - Cape Town

 
USA or Canada/Cape Town.
Commercial Flights

Board your flight on South African Airways to Cape Town.

Airport Transfers

Transfer to the Commodore Hotel, located at the highest point on the Victoria and Alfred waterfront.

Stay at Commodore Hotel.


Day 3-5 - Cape Town

 
Cape Town-Paarl.
Sightseeing

Enjoy a scenic drive to the Cape of Good Hope, meeting point of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans. Your adventure includes a stop at the granite boulders with magnificent views of the Twelve Apostles.

Sightseeing

At Hout Bay, board a boat to see Cape fur seal on Duiker Island. Continue to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve for lunch. Explore the rocky coastline and watch for diverse bird life.

Beach

Drive to the southernmost tip of the continent, Cape Point, then visit Boulders Beach and the African jackass penguin. You return to your hotel for a welcome dinner.

Wine

The following day, drive to South Africa’s wine country. Lush vineyards await you in Paarl, where you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch and wine tastings.

Sightseeing

Continue to Stellenbosch, a seventeenth-century village with Cape Dutch homes, famous mansions and majestic mountains.

Sightseeing

On your last day in Cape Town, take a cable car to the summit of Table Mountain (weather permitting). Later, enjoy a scenic drive to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.

Day 5-6 - Durban

 
Ubizane Wildlife Reserve.

Fly from Cape Town to Durban.

Then drive to the Ubizane Wildlife Reserve, at the entrance to the Hluhluwe/Umfolozi Game Reserve, in Zululand.

Safari

For the next two nights stay at the Ubizane Tree Lodge, set in a forest of fever trees. The Ubizane Wildlife Reserve boasts white rhino, giraffe, wildebeest, and most species of antelope, which can be observed from the comfort of Land Rovers, on foot or on horseback.

Safari

Morning and afternoon game drives into the Reserve, the oldest in Africa where the “Big Five” roam, are also available.

Day 7 - Mbabane

 
Sightseeing

Drive to Swaziland, one of the few remaining African monarchies. Travel past the Drakensberg Mountains, where rivers race through deep gorges and plunge down into shimmering waterfalls.

Shopping

Visit the bustling market and the capital city of Mbabane.

Hotels

Your accommodations reflect a country atmosphere, with colorful gardens. Stay at Foresters Arms.


Day 8 - South Africa

 
National Parks

Travel to Kruger National Park—one of the largest national parks in Africa. Kruger boasts 130 species of mammals and over 500 species of birds. During game runs in open vehicles, be on the alert for elephant, lion, cheetah and rhino as they emerge from the bush. The protruding eyes of hippo and crocodile observe you from the rivers. Remember to look skyward to spot the ever-present birds of prey.

Day 9-10 - Mala Mala

Safari

Drive to the Mala Mala Reserve, where you’ll stay at Harry’s Camp on the banks of the Sand River. During your stay in this private reserve, enjoy safari drives from an open vehicle, great for photography. A professional game ranger and a skilled Shangaan tracker accompany you. The highlight of your day is often the spot-lit night game drive. Mala Mala boasts the largest privately owned tract of “Big Five” country in Southern Africa.

Camping

Harry’s Camp is intimate, allowing a maximum of 24 guests. Its 12 well- appointed rooms have a verandah with spectacular views of the river.

Food and Dining

Enjoy meals at a shaded table on the riverbank and dinner in a reed-enclosed Boma.


Day 11 - Johannesburg

 
Commercial Flights

Fly to Johannesburg, where you can relax at the airport’s premier club lounge until your flight departs.


Day 12 - United States

 
Commercial Flights

Return home aboard South African Airways.
