Detailed Trip Description

This is a 4 night 5 day backpacking trail along the southern section of the Wild Coast and Cape Wild Coast. Each section has been designed to reveal special aspects of our coast. The trail covers 59 kilometers and the best time of the year to hike is between May and July as there is no rain or wind, the days are warm and the nights cool; although every month has its special attractions. Overnight in huts along the coast. All huts have bunks with mattresses and amenities. There is no electricity and no vehicular access to the huts. On this hike you will cover spectacular views and terrain. The trail is not recommended for children under 12, but there are no restrictions should you wish children to accompany you. This is a nature lover's paradise, with access so limited that the only way to see the majority of the coastline is to hike. You will encounter long lonely beautifully wild beaches, rivers, fauna, and majestic views. Should you wish to spend the night prior to your trail or on completion in East London, we can offer you accommodation at the Meander Inn, a B&B especially designed to accommodate the hiking groups on the night before their trail. The groups can enjoy a social get together, braai, and will be briefed with maps and photographs on the trail. Alternately we can arrange for you to stay at any other venue of your choice.
