Detailed Trip Description

This is a South African Garden Route Adventure Tour - an exciting new concept along the Garden Route. It is an action-packed "must do" for all thrill seekers. The itinerary includes a variety of thrilling outdoor activities like: river gorge hikes, Great White Shark viewing, mountain biking, horse riding, waterfalls, forest, whales, wine, beaches and wildlife - the itinerary has something in it for everyone. Included in the Tour Price: All highlights specified in itinerary. Experienced driver/guides and reliable transport. All accommodation, game parks, road toll and taxes. Alt meals as specified: B: Breakfast, L: Lunch, D: Dinner. Maximum 10 people per tour.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 - Cape Town

 
Hotel

After arrival at Cape Town International Airport, a quick 20-minute transfer takes us to our Hotel close to the Cities V&A Waterfront.

The day is left to use as you wish.

Options are a visit to the famous Robin Island Prison where Nelson Mandela was held, take the cable car up Table Mountain, a half-day trip into the townships to get an idea of how the majority of South Africans live, or simply visit the shops and festivities of the Waterfront or one the Cape Beaches.


Day 2 - Cape Town

 
Cape Point & Peninsula Tour.
Sightseeing

This is a full Cape Peninsula tour. We follow the Atlantic coast past Clifton, Camps Bay & Llandudno, to the fishing village at Hout Bay. Here we will do a 1/2 hour scenic boat cruise to visit an impressive seal colony (own costing @R30). Then it’s on over the Constantiaberg Mountains, to Soetwater where we begin our optional cycle with a total distance of 24km ending in the Cape Point Nature Reserve where we will serve a buffet-style picnic lunch. We will then continue on to Cape Point, where you can choose to climb the hill to the lighthouse or take the funicular up. There is also a 1/2 hour cliff top hike from Cape Point to the Cape of Good Hope - the South-westernmost tip of the African continent (or take the bus). On our return home we will visit a rare colony of African penguins at Boulders Beach in False Bay. We then follow the road past the southern suburbs back to the city.


Day 3 - Mossel Bay

 
Sightseeing

Depart from Cape Town and drive along N2 towards Swellendam, heading for Mossel Bay where we have time to visit The Diaz Museum, The Post Office Tree and other attractions of Mossel Bay. Late afternoon drive back towards Albertinia on the way to a Sunset BIG 5 Game Drive at the Garden Route Game Lodge.

Food and Dining

Dinner and Jacuzzi under the stars before overnighting at the Santos Express on the beach at Mossel Bay. [BD]


Day 4 - Oudtshoorn

 
Sightseeing

Depart from Mossel Bay and drive over the spectacular Robinson Pass on the way to Oudtshoorn. Spend the day at the Cango Caves; ride ostriches at the Cango Ostrich Farm and view Cheetah’s, Crocodiles and many other cats at the Crocodile Farm.

Hotel

Overnight in Wilderness at the Faery Knowe lodge where we have the option of canoeing on the lagoon spotting 200 different species of birds. [BD]


Day 5 - Plettenberg Bay

 
Sightseeing

Depart Wilderness and drive to George.
Option of catching the Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe steam train to Knynsa or going canoeing on the river. Thereafter we visit World’s highest Bungy at Bloukrantz (plenty of time to jump for those thrill seekers) as well as walk the hanging bridge over Storms River Mouth.

River, Barge or Yacht Cruise

Overnight at Stanley Island (S.A’s only privately owned island) which includes half an hour champagne cruise.

Food and Dining

Dinner at own expense this evening in Plettenberg Bay.

Beach

Optional extra of gliding effortlessly with qualified pilot over Plettenberg beaches spotting dolphins and whales. [B]


Day 6 - South Africa

 
Sightseeing

Depart Plettenberg Bay and explore secluded castles at Noetzie. Visit Knysna heads and explore Knysna.

Sightseeing

Thereafter we have a tour of an aloe factory outside and overnight at the Buffelsjagts Dam outside Swellendam with the option of going on the longest foefie - slide in Africa! [BD]


Day 7 - Cape Town

 
Sightseeing

Depart Swellendam and follow the coastal route towards Hermanus. There is time for an optional extra of Shark Cage Diving if any one so wishes. Visit the beer brewery (plenty of tasting!). Thereafter we explore Hermanus including whale watching (in season) and wine tasting at Hamilton Russell.

Sightseeing

Return to Cape Town late afternoon via the stunning False Bay coastline where hopefully we’ll see more whales or dolphins. [B]


Day 8 - Cape Town

 
Depart Cape Town.
Shopping

Have a relaxing morning in Cape Town doing some last minute shopping etc.

Airport Transfer

Transfer back to the airport for our flight home on which everyone will sleep every minute of the way. [B]
