Detailed Trip Description

You will visit South Africa and Lesotho during this Highlanders Epic: 7 Days of Serious Fun tour. The highlights of the tour include sightseeing and visits to Drakensburg, Sani Pass, Katse Dam, Semonkong, and Malealea.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 - South Africa

 
Sani Pass (South Africa).
Adventure

Departing from Durban, we ride west through the Valley of a 1000 Hills, along the famous Comrades Marathon route to Richmond, whilst getting acquainted with our machines. From here we will head towards Sani Pass on some scenic dirt roads, through the Sappi Forests, to the foot of Sani Pass, where we'll spend the night. (D)

Day 2 - Lesotho

 
Katse Dam (Lesotho).
Adventure

After an early morning breakfast at our hotel we tackle the world famous Sani Pass on our two wheelers, up through the border into what we know as the “Roof of Africa”.

Sightseeing

We then saddle down for a full day of awesome scenic riding through the beautiful Lesotho mountain passes to Katse Dam, where we arrive in the late afternoon at our lodge. (B,D)


Day 3 - Lesotho

 
Semonkong (Lesotho).
Adventure

After touring the Dam, another full day lies ahead of chewing the African dust, with some more seriously scenic riding through high mountains and valleys on dirt roads. Crossing through the Blue Mountain pass, we head down to Semonkong, where we have the opportunity to explore the highest free falling waterfall in Southern Africa and all the beauty and culture that the region has to offer.

We scrub up for the night at a nearby lodge. (B,D)


Day 4 - Lesotho

 
Malealea Lodge (Lesotho).
Sightseeing

This morning we spend some time exploring the area before taking a cruise to Malealea Lodge via some off beat tracks.

Relaxation

Here you have an opportunity to relax for the afternoon, soaking up the peaceful atmosphere. (B,D)


Day 5 - Lesotho

 
Malealea Lodge (Lesotho).
Sightseeing

Today is a free day to visit the craft markets, take a popular pony trek, explore the area, or just take a well deserved break at this oasis lodge, overlooking a tranquil valley. (B,D)


Day 6 - South Africa

 
Kwa Zulu Natal (South Africa).
Adventure

This morning, we depart from Malealea heading south east through the border back into South Africa. We will ride some great dirt roads and spend the night in a small farming community at the foot of the beautiful Drakensburg Mountains. (B,D)


Day 7 - Durban

 
Adventure

After a traditional farmer’s breakfast, we will take our machines towards the Indian Ocean through some spectacular farm and forest roads, while we ride alongside the coast and into Durban during the late afternoon where we say farewell to our fellow riders. (B)
