During our South Africa Cultural Tours, we will introduce you to the people, history, culture, customs, traditions, lifestyle who have made South Africa into what it is to day. Visit the village where Nelson Mandela grew up, and tour the Nelson Mandela Museum in this tour.
Meet and pickup guests at East London Airport and drive to Bhisho Capital of Eastern Cape Province.
We will visit the Bhisho Masaccre Memorial in Bhisho where 28 ANC marches were gunned down by ex-Ciskei homeland Soldiers while on a peaceful march protesting against the Ciskei homeland government.
We will then drive to Kingwiliamstown and visit Steve Biko`s home in Ginsberg Township and his grave. Steve died in the hands of the South African apartheid police fighting for liberation of the oppressed.
From here we will go to the Taxi Rank and Market place and mix with the village people as they are busy doing their shopping. This area is on the edge of the town and close to the taxi rank. These villagers are always scared to go deep into town and prefer to buy there provisions here.
We will then proceed to Alice and Check in at Mak & Mak guest house. We will be entertained by tribal dancing here and meet with some historians over dinner which includes a taste on traditional food. Overnight here.
Have b/fast and visit the Historic Fort Hare University where people like Mandela, Bishop Desmond Tutu, Robert Mugabe and many more African leaders got educated. We will visit the De Beers Centenary Art Gallery popular for displaying the art work done by the Africans themselves. Their works depict rural life and township as well as the struggle for freedom in this country.
From here we will proceed to the Wild Coast, stopping at the palace of the King of the Xhosa people as we make our way to King Williams Town. We will do a short tour of the complex which has 40 rondavels (roundish Xhosa traditional houses). These rondavels depict 40 different tribes that are represented by their individual chief. and These rondavels are also used as accommodation for guests visiting the palace.
We will then proceed to Kei Mouth. We will cross the Great Kei river on a pomtoon to the Transkei homeland. We will make our way to the Wild Coast through different villages where we will be experiencing a more rural way of living.
Lunch with traditional food will be organized in one of the villages.
On the scenic road to Coffe Bay, next to the road in Qunu Village, we will be able to see Nelson Mandel's home.
Overnight Ocean View Hotel.
Have breakfast and enjoy activities which will be arranged with the management walking trails, 4 x4 rides to villages fishing etc. ) Overnight here.
Have breakfast and leave for Umtata, drop off guest at Airport.
If there is time, we can visit the Nelson Mandela Musuem.
