During our South Africa Cultural Tours, we will introduce you to the people, history, culture, customs, traditions, lifestyle that have made South Africa what it is today. Visit the village where Nelson Mandela grew up, and tour the Nelson Mandela Museum during this 5N/6D: The Real Eastern Cape: People, History and The Wild Coast tour.
Meet guests at East London Airport. Briefly tour East London.
Proceed to Mdantsane Township the second biggest township in the Southern Hemisphere after Soweto. Experience township life, do some walking and then proceed to Mgwali cultural village.
Enjoy traditional food, dancing, stick fighting and story telling.
Overnite at Mgwali.
We leave Mgwali for Alice after breakfast via Keiskammahoek. This scenic road on the foothills of the Amathole Mountain Range will take us through villages and old irrigation schemes, past Sandile Dam onto Hogsback- South Africa's very own Switzerland. Experience its water falls, and indigenous forests.
We proceed on to Fort Hare University where some today's leaders, such as Nelson Mandela and current President Thabo Mbeki were educated.
We will visit the breathtaking collection of African Art at the De Beers Centenary Art Gallery and the ANC and PAC archives.
We then proceed to King William’s Town to visit Steve Biko’s home and grave, and the Amathole Natural History Museum.
Overnite at King Williams town.
Leave King William’s Town after breakfast and proceed to Kei Mouth. By Pantoon, we will cross the Great Kei River to meet a traditional healer in Centane. You can ask this old healer questions about his traditions, and enjoy your own healing session.
After this, we will visit a village clinic and a local rural village. Here, we will have a traditional lunch and watch traditional dancing.
We then proceed to Trenneries where we will stay overnight.
Leave Trenneries for Coffee Bay via Mazeepa Bay after breakfast. Mazeepa Bay Island is a fisherman’s paradise . We will cross the suspension bridge and feel the ocean breeze while being captivated by the beauty and splendor of the island and the surrounding area.
We will then see Nelson Mandela's home while making our way to Coffee Bay via Qunu.
We will stay overnight at Coffee Bay. Coffee Bay is made up of the few hotels and the few stores on the wild Coast... It is deeply rooted in the area's traditions- it is tranquil and incredibly scenic.
This day is free to experience Coffee Bay.
We leave for Umtata from Coffee Bay after breakfast to visit the Nelson Mandela Museum.
Then proceed to East London and drop off our guests.
