This tour aims to visit several of the most interesting and scenic attractions in South Africa, while combining it with a wide range of golf courses. The journey starts at Cape Town with its famous landmark, Table Mountain, continues to the excitement of Sun City and ends with safari and golf in the Kruger National Park.
Arrive at Cape Town International Airport and transfer to your hotel.
You will spend five nights in Cape Town on a bed and breakfast basis.
Cape Town is home to a number of world-class golf courses and you will play three of them during your stay. Also enjoy some quality sightseeing on private tours with a local guide.
Clovelly Country Club in the southern peninsula is best combined with a tour to Cape Point in the Cape Peninsula National Park and a visit to the penguins at Boulders beach.
Erinvale Country Club is situated in the Winelands approximately one hour's drive from the city. The course hosted the 1996 World Cup and offers every golfer a challenge, as well as magnificent mountain and sea views. The afternoon will be spent sampling the vintage at the beautiful neighbouring Vergelegen Estate.
Royal Cape Golf Course - the venue of numerous South African Opens - boasts the oldest club in South Africa.
After an optional lunch at the clubhouse you will return to the city and Victoria & Alfred Waterfront for shopping and sightseeing.
Non-golfing days in the "Mother City" can be filled in numerous ways - relax on one of the many beautiful beaches, join a ferry tour to the infamous Robben Island - South Africa's Alcatraz is best known as the place where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for almost two decades or ascend Table Mountain (on foot or by cable car - weather permitting).
Or you may book optional extra rounds of golf at some of the city's other interesting courses such as Westlake which is a well-wooded course in a parklands setting, Milnerton which is Cape Town's only links course or Steenberg, a new exclusive course set in the Constantia winelands.
Transfer to Cape Town Airport for your direct flight to Sun City.
Situated on the southern border of the Pilanesberg Game Reserve, approximately two hours drive from Johannesburg, Sun City is the major pleasure resort in the country. With its palm trees and man-made sea complete with waves and beaches, the resort springs from the arid surroundings like a lush oasis. Apart from the golf opportunities, there is a huge variety of leisure options, including the opportunity of a game drive or balloon safari in the Pilanesberg National Park. Spend the following three nights at Sun City on a bed and breakfast basis.
Whilst at Sun City you may enjoy a round of golf at Gary Player Country Club as well as the Lost City Country Club. Gary Player Country Club is probably South Africa's most famous course and with good reason! A championship course of gigantic proportions, the Gary Player Country Club plays host to the Million Dollar Gold Classic. The Lost City Country Club on the other hand is a new desert-style course with some very interesting features, including live crocodiles at one of the waterholes!
Scheduled flight from Sun City to Hoedspruit, gateway to the Kruger National Park and the luxurious Ngala Lodge.
Spend two nights at Ngala Game Lodge on a fully inclusive basis.
Africa's most spectacular wildlife can be sighted at Ngala. You are taken out twice a day for thrilling game drives in open Land Rovers. For the energetic, an expert guide reveals some of nature's most closely guarded secrets on bush walks. Walking is a wonderful way to appreciate the smaller animals and insects of the African bush.
On the day of departure you will enjoy a final morning game drive at Ngala and a round of golf at Hans Merensky Golf Course in Phalaborwa.
Bid farewell to Africa on the carefully tended fairways of this challenging golf course where crocodile and hippos give new meaning to the phrase "water hazard". The legendary Bob Grimsdell-designed course extends over a vast area of indigenous bush, interspersed with tranquil pools and velvet greens. The famous Kruger National Park stretches along the entire length of the club's eastern boundary. Wild game, including giraffe, zebra, warthog, impala and other antelope species are often seen on the course. The clubhouse itself, with its large trees, wide verandah and the cool ambience of traditional thatch, provides an oasis of leisure in the heat of the day.
Freshen up at the clubhouse before departing from Phalaborwa on a late afternoon flight to Johannesburg.
