Enhance your Egypt experience with a wonderful first class extension to Biblical Jordan!
Upon arrival to Queen Alia airport, transfer to your deluxe hotel.
Due to various arrival times, no activities are planned for today and dinner is on your own. (B)
After breakfast, begin your sightseeing with a panoramic tour of Jordan’s capital. Amman, the modern and ancient capital of Jordan, is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the World. The city's modern buildings blend with the remnants of ancient civilizations. The profusion of gleaming white houses, kebab stalls with roasting meat, and tiny cafes where rich Arabian coffee is sipped in the afternoon sunshine, conjure a mood straight from a thousand and one nights.
After a short break for lunch (on own), continue to Madaba, the “city of mosaics” where you will visit the splendid 6th century Orthodox Church of St. George.
Then it’s on to Mt. Nebo, one of the most revered holy sites of Jordan, located 10 km west of Madaba, for this is reportedly where the prophet Moses is buried.
In the early evening arrive in Petra in time for dinner and overnight. (B)
The rock-carved rose-red city of Petra is considered the most famous and most awe inspiring site in Jordan. It is the legacy of the Nabataeans, an industrious Arab people who settled in southern Jordan more than 2000 years ago. Admired then for its refined culture, massive architecture and ingenious complex of dams and water channels, Petra is now a UNESCO world heritage site that enchants visitors from all corners of the globe. Your sightseeing will include passage through the Siq, the 1 km long and narrow chasm that kept Petra lost to the world from the 16th to 19th century, the magnificent Treasury carved into side of the mountain and over 800 individual monuments, including buildings, tombs, baths, funerary halls, temples, arched gateways, and colonnaded streets, that were carved from sandstone with the technical and artistic genius of its inhabitants.
A horse ride will give your legs a break before you return to your hotel for overnight. (B)
Check out of your hotel after breakfast and head back towards Amman with a stop in Jerash, one of the largest and best preserved sites of Roman architecture in the world outside of Italy. To this day, its paved and colonnaded streets, soaring hilltop temples, handsome theaters, spacious public squares and plazas, baths, fountains and city walls pierced by towers and gates remain in exceptional condition.
After your sightseeing, continue on to Amman airport where your program will end.(B)
