Detailed Trip Description

Enjoy 20 Days Reefs and Rainforests tour featuring sightseeing and many activities in Queensland. First you will travel to Cairns where you will have a city sightseeing tour, take a scenic drive into the Atherton Hinterland to Kuranda, visit Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Centre and see Aboriginal dancing. Before you go, don't forget to throw a boomerang and see spear throwing. Then travel to Mossman Gorge where you will swim in Mossman National Park and enjoy a walk through the rainforest to the Gorge. On to Daintree National Park where you can visit Cape Tribulation and its unique beach and enjoy a swim n Emmagen Creek. You can also walk along the Daintree Rainforest flora and fauna boardwalk, see the mangrove swamp and strangler fig, and learn about Aboriginal legends of the area. Next it's time to visit Port Douglas where you will see the magnificent marina in this luxury holiday resort town. Need some excitement? Visit the famous bungy site at the AJ Hackett Bungy Jump. Head to Tully where you will cross the Tully River, home to Australia's best water rafting. Then enjoy a sightseeing tour in Townsville. Next, travel to the vibrant sea town of Airlie Beach before heading to Whitsundays. In Whitsundays you will stay on Long Island, enjoy all the resort facilities and see native birdlife and wallabies. Do you have a sweet tooth? Visit the major center of the Australian sugar cane industry- Mackay. Next go to the beach town of Noosa. Then stay at a traditional Country Homestead. While you're there, take a farm tour, enjoy a bush dancing evening, see the farm animals and enjoy the jumping kangaroos. Take a city sightseeing tour in Brisbane and head to Surfers Paradise where you will visit the Gold Coast beaches and Jupiter's Casino. Enjoy many adventures in Currumbin, visit Cape Byron, Australia's most eastern point in Byron Bay and see the Big Banana and banana plantations at Coffs Harbour. Then it's on to Hunter Valley where you will enjoy a wine tasting and see the beautiful vineyards. Finally travel to Sydney where you will see the Opera House and Harbour bridge. Visit Mrs Macquarie's Chair for a panoramic view of Sydney Harbour and see the Hawkesbury River and its oyster farms.

Day 1-2 - On the Plane

 
Depart for Australia.
Commercial Flight

Fly over the international date line on your way to Australia.


Day 3 - Cairns

 
Arrive Cairns.
All-Inclusive Resort

Check into your Cairns Colonial Club Resort.

Relaxation

The rest of the afternoon is free for you to explore.


Day 4 - Cairns

 
Cairns to Cape Tribulation.
Bus

The rainforest adventure begins! We head north to see Port Douglas for lunch, with time to enjoy this holiday resort for the rich and famous.

Sightseeing

Then on to Mossman Gorge for a trail walk and perhaps a refreshing afternoon swim.

All-Inclusive Resort

We'll then head up the coast towards Daintree and our resort. (Dinner)


Day 5 - Australia

 
Cape Tribulation.
National Parks

The opposite of tribulation. Today we'll explore the lush Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation National Park.

Beach

A 'must do' is a dip in one of the many swimming holes before we head back to Cape Tribulation Beach. (Breakfast)


Day 6 - Cairns

 
Cape Tribulation to Cairns.
Sightseeing

Crossing the Daintree River, we leave the heritage listed rainforest to visit Tjapukai and Kuranda with the chance to take a scenic ride high above the rainforest rooftop on Skyrail.

Hotel

Then check into our Cairns hotel, situated in a lush tropical setting. (Breakfast)


Day 7-8 - Cairns

 
Rafting

For the adventurous a chance to do some white water rafting on the rapids of the Tully River, or take the opportunity to visit the famous Outer Barrier Reef aboard a high-speed catamaran.

Scuba Diving

Why not scuba dive amidst amazingly colourful tropical fish?

Shopping

Or if you prefer, maybe spend the days at leisure doing some shopping in town.

Nightlife

In the evening we'll check out more tropical wildlife at one of Cairns' nightclubs!


Day 9 - Long Island

 
Cairns to Whitsundays.
Sightseeing

We'll leave this morning to travel South to Townsville to explore the scenic lookout of Castle Hill.

Sailing

This evening we'll board our launch at Shute Harbour and make the short journey to Long Island - one of the jewels of the Whitsundays. (Breakfast, Dinner)


Day 10-11 - Long Island

 
Relaxation

Time to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and great amenities of Long Island.

Snorkeling

Feeling energetic, why not go bushwalking, play tennis or beach volleyball, take to the water with a snorkel or a jet ski?

Beach

Want to relax? Then unwind on the palm-lined beach, have a massage, or sip cocktails on the veranda as you watch another perfect sunset.


Day 12 - Airlie Beach

 
Whitsundays to Capricorn Coast.
Sightseeing

From Airlie Beach we'll visit Mackay - Australia's sugar capital.

Sightseeing

This evening why not come face to fang with huge estuarine crocodiles at the Koorana Crocodile Farm? (Breakfast)


Day 13 - Rockhampton

 
Capricorn Coast to Fraser Island.
Adventure

This morning as we leave Rockhampton we will cross the Tropic of Capricorn before hooking up with our launch to Fraser Island. (Breakfast, Dinner)


Day 14 - Australia

 
Fraser Island.
Sightseeing

Now you're on the largest sand island in the world! What to do? Here are a few clues. Why not take a 4-wheel drive bus tour through the rainforests, a guided bushwalk or a swim in the fresh water lakes? With this many options there's no chance of going troppo!


Day 15 - Australia

 
Fraser Island to Country Homestead.
Shopping

Today we travel South along the coast to Noosa Heads with its stunning beaches and great shopping.

Sightseeing

From there we'll head along the fertile farming lands of the Darling Downs to the edge of Queensland's Outback to enjoy a good ol' Aussie 'knees up' tonight at our Country Homestead. (Breakfast, Dinner)


Day 16 - Surfers Paradise

 
Country Homestead to Surfers Paradise.
Sightseeing

From the fertile farming lands of the Darling Downs we'll take in the sights and sounds of Brisbane before arriving in Surfers Paradise.

Gambling

After dinner, try your luck at Jupiter's Casino! (Breakfast)


Day 17 - Surfers Paradise

 
Beach

So much to do in the name of leisure. Here goes! Relax on 42km (26miles) of white sand beaches

Adventure

If you're feeling adventurous - why not try a tandem skydive or a Harley Davidson ride. All are available in Australia's biggest playground.


Day 18 - Coffs Harbour

 
Surfers Paradise to Coffs Harbour.
Shopping

This morning we'll cross the Queensland border into New South Wales. We'll stop at Cape Byron, Australia's most easterly point then on to trendy Byron Bay where you can shop or swim.

Hotel

Tonight will be our last night together in our accommodation at Coffs Harbour! (Breakfast)


Day 19 - Sydney

 
Coffs Harbour to Sydney.
Sightseeing

We head south along the 'holiday coast' and across the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge. We'll then make a photostop taking in the harbour and Opera House.

Relaxation

The rest of the day is free for you to explore Sydney. (Breakfast)


Day 20 - Sydney

 
Airport Transfer

Say a final farewell to your new friends as your trip ends this morning.
