Enjoy 8 Days The Treasures of France Escorted tour featuring sightseeing and many activities in Amboise, Mont Saint Michel, Paris and Chartres.
Trip Itinerary
Day 1 - On the Plane
Commercial Flight
Board your overnight transatlantic flight.
Day 2 - Paris
Arrival In Paris, France.
Airport Transfer
On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Food and Dining
Tonight, enjoy a Welcome Drink with your Tour Director and fellow travelers.
Day 3 - Paris
Paris - Rouen - Bayeux.
Sightseeing
An exciting day of sightseeing includes the Champs Elysées, Arc de Triomphe, Place de la Concorde, views of Notre Dame Cathedral and an ascent to the second level of the Eiffel Tower.
Sightseeing
Then drive to Montmartre and take the funicular to the Place du Tertre with its many artists.
Sightseeing
Enjoy a walking tour here, in the shadow of the Sacre Coeur Basilica.
Bus
Afterwards, travel to Rouen, where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake in 1431. Then on to the historic town of Bayeux for the night. (B,D)
Day 4 - France
Bayeux - D-day Landing Beaches - Mont St. Michel.
Museums
Your first stop this morning is at the Tapestry Museum to see Queen Matilda's 900-year-old tapestry depicting the Battle of Hastings of 1066.
Beach
Then travel on to visit the D-Day Landing Beaches and the somber Omaha Military cemetery.
Sightseeing
Journey on to Mont St. Michel to visit the famous Benedictine Abbey, perched on a rocky islet in the Gulf of Saint Malo. (B,D)
Day 5 - France
Mont St. Michel - Loire Valley - Amboise.
Wine
This morning travel to Angers, dominated by its 13th century château. Continue through the Loire Valley, renowned for its châteaux and vineyards. Sample a recent vintage on a visit to a wine cellar in Saumur.
Bus
Finally head to Amboise for the next two nights. (B)
Hotel
Stay at Novotel (F) in Amboise.
Day 6 - France
Châteaux Excursion.
Sightseeing
Along with a local guide visit Chenonceau, Catherine de Medici's 16th-century fairy tale château. Next view Chambord, the jewel of the French Renaissance and the largest château in the region. Return to Amboise and visit the Castle of Amboise, where Leonardo da Vinci is buried.
Relaxation
Then return to the hotel, with the rest of the day at leisure. (B,D)
Day 7 - Paris
Amboise - Chartres - Paris.
Sightseeing
First stop this morning is at Chartres to visit the magnificent Cathedral, a fine example of gothic architecture. Then visit the Palace of Fontainebleau. Admire this former royal residence before returning to Paris, where your evening is free. (B)
Hotel
Stay at Renaissance La Defense (SF) in Paris.
Day 8 - Paris
Sightseeing
Enjoy a full day at leisure for independent activities. Perhaps visit the Louvre, explore the Left Bank or take a River Seine cruise.
Food and Dining
Check with your Tour Director for the best places to eat and other ideas. Tonight, relish a Farewell Dinner with newfound friends. (B,D)
Day 9 - Paris
Depart Paris.
Airport Transfer
Your homebound flight arrives the same day. (B)
