Day 1 - Auckland

 
Arrive Auckland, New Zealand.
Airport Transfer

Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel.

Tonight, enjoy a welcome drink with your Tour Director.

Day 2 - Auckland

 
Auckland - Bay Of Islands.
Sightseeing

This morning, journey across the Auckland Harbour Bridge And take in the spectacular scenery of the Hibiscus Coast.

Sightseeing

At Parry Kauri Park, stroll along the boardwalks through Kauri trees and native bush.

Sightseeing

Then travel to the sub­tropical Bay of Islands, rich in history and culture. On arrival, visit the Waitangi Treaty Reserve. (B,D)

Day 3 - New Zealand

 
Bay Of Islands.
Sightseeing

The breathtaking Bay of Islands is the ­historic heart of New Zealand. With 144 islands and abundant sea life, it is an idyllic maritime park. Today is free for you to discover its beauty at your own pace and in your own way.

Kayaking

You might want to take a coach trip to Cape Reinga, join a guided sea kayaking trip or enjoy a day of sailing (all own expense). (B)


Day 4 - Auckland

 
Bay Of Islands - Auckland.
Ocean Cruise

This morning, take a scenic cruise to Cape Brett and, weather permitting, through the famous “Hole in the Rock.” This afternoon return to Auckland. (B,D)

Day 5 - Rotorua

 
Auckland - Waitomo Caves - Rotorua.
Sightseeing

Travel south to Waitomo for a guided tour of the famous Waitomo Caves, and discover the incredible Glow Worm Grotto on an underground boat trip.

Performing Arts

Continue on to Rotorua. Tonight, enjoy a special cultural evening with a visit to The Realm of Tane, followed by a Maori Hangi feast and concert. (B,D)

Day 6 - Wellington

 
Ocean Cruise

Begin the day with a breakfast cruise aboard an 1880s replica of a steamboat.

Sightseeing

Next, visit the Agrodome for an unusual, yet humorous, sheep shearing demonstration. Later, tour Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve, where a local Maori guide escorts you past geysers and pools of boiling mud.

Relaxation

This afternoon is free you to relax, explore or join an optional tour. (B)

Spend the night on day 6 with a local family on a near­by farm and enjoy some true New Zealand hospitality. Dinner included.

Day 7 - Wellington

 
Rotorua - Wellington.
Sightseeing

Head south to beautiful Taupo, in the heart of the North Island. Stop for pictures at mighty Huka Falls.

Then continue on a picturesque drive into the ­capital city of Wellington. (B,D)

Day 8 - Blenheim

 
Wellington - Blenheim.
Sightseeing

This morning take a sightseeing tour of Wellington and enjoy the panoramic view from the top of Mount Victoria.

Museums

Visit Te Papa, New Zealand’s National Museum.

Ocean Cruise

Later, board the inter-island cruise across Cook Strait and tranquil Queen Charlotte Sound.

Bus

Upon arrival on the South Island, travel to Blenheim.

Tonight, relish a wine tasting and dinner at the Montana Winery. (B,D)

Day 9 - Christchurch

 
Blenheim - Christchurch.
Sightseeing

Experience the ­stunning scenery of the east coast on the drive today. Visit Kaikoura, set between the mountains and the ocean. Watch for New Zealand fur seals and whales.

You may want to take an optional whale watching flight (own expense), before continuing on to the “Garden City” of Christchurch. (B)

Day 10 - Christchurch

 
Christchurch - Mt. Cook.
Sightseeing

Discover the sights of Christchurch this morning on the Christchurch Tram. Then, visit beautiful Lake Tekapo and see the Church of the Good Shep­herd.

National Parks

Admire the scenery of Mt. Cook National Park, home to New Zealand’s highest mountain, and perhaps take a spectacular optional scenic flight ­(weather permitting, own expense). (B,D)

Day 11 - Dunedin

 
Mt. Cook - Dunedin.
Sightseeing

See the pretty Oamaru region today before traveling on to Dunedin. This afternoon is free for you to explore this charming town founded by Scottish settlers.

Perhaps visit Cadbury World or take an optional Albatross & Yellow Eyed Penguin Cruise. (B,D)

Day 12 - Te Anau

 
Dunedin - Te Anau.
Sightseeing

This morning, enjoy a guided tour at Larnach Castle, New Zealand’s only castle. Next, see the highlights of Dunedin on a sightseeing tour. Then travel across the island to pretty Te Anau. (B)

Day 13 - Queenstown

 
Te Anau - Milford Sound - Queenstown.
National Parks

Discover the magnificent alpine scenery of Fiord­land National Park today.

Ocean Cruise

Enjoy a cruise on Milford Sound passing Mitre Peak and Bowen Falls.

Then on to Queenstown. Why not experience the entertaining Kiwi Haka & Dinner tonight (own expense) (B)

Day 14 - Queenstown

A day at leisure in Queenstown, set on the shores of Lake Wakatipu. Explore this charming city on your own, shop or join an optional ­excursion.

Tonight, board the historic steamship T.S.S. Earnslaw for a cruise across Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak Station for a sumptuous carvery dinner. (B,D)


Day 15 - Franz Josef

 
Queenstown - Franz Josef.
Sightseeing

Historic Arrowtown is your first stop today. Then see rugged Kawarau Gorge, stunning Lake Wanaka, and travel over Haast Pass.

After a stop at Thunder Creek Falls, continue along the coastal road to Franz Josef. (B,D)

Day 16 - Christchurch

 
Franz Josef - Tranzalpine Train - Christ­church.
Sightseeing

Discover Franz Josef Glacier this morning. Then travel to Hokitika, where you can see beautiful native ­greenstone (jade) jewelery and artifacts.

Later, board the TranzAlpine train for a spectacular journey over the Southern Alps to Christchurch. (B,D)
