Your sightseeing tour starts with a cyclo ride to the Old Quarter. These chauffeur-pedaled tricycles are one of the best ways to see the city. Enjoy a visit to the Temple of Literature, founded in 1070 AD. Then on to Hoan Kiem Lake, with its Tortoise Tower, the Opera House, built between 1901 and 1911, and the One Pillar Pagoda.
Next, see Ho Chi Minh’s home and mausoleum and the Cathedral of St. Joseph.
Savor a local lunch before strolling through a museum, and finally, take in a water puppet show. (B,L)
Drive through the countryside to remarkable Halong Bay. Board a traditional sailing junk and begin your cruise.
This vast bay, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is dotted with more than 1,000 limestone peaks rising from the ocean floor. Explore some of the caves and islets, and glide by the floating villages of the fishermen and pearl farmers who live on the bay. (B,L,D)

Head to the Mekong Delta and the bustling town of My Tho. Your first stop is the Vinh Trang Pagoda, a sanctuary for orphans.

Around the 16th century, Angkor was abandoned and the jungle took over and concealed the ruins. The site was rediscovered in the late 1850’s, and restoration and new discoveries continue today. Start your explorations in Angkor Thom, the royal walled city. Enter through the impressive South Gate and continue on to see the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper Kings. Then stroll to the Bayon Temple and view its mystic galleries of bas reliefs, and the sanctuary with its giant stone faces.
Next, visit Ta Prohm, still partially enshrouded by the jungle. Your afternoon is free. (B)
Explorations today focus on Angkor Wat, nominated as one of the new Seven Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage site. These ruins were the royal seat of the wealthy during the Khmer Empire which flourished between the 9th and 13th centuries. The site boasts two monumental temples and 100 smaller ones, of which the most famous is Angkor Wat.
Later this today, fly to Bangkok for your overnight at an airport hotel. (B)
