Day 1 - Alice Springs

 
Alice Springs/Coober Pedy.
Train

Transfer to the depot and board The Legendary Ghan train for its crossing of the vast Australian outback.

Leave the train at Manguri for your transfer to the world-famous opal capital of Coober Pedy, where the arid landscape is dotted with mine shafts and slag heaps.

Day 2 - Coober Pedy

 
Coober Pedy/Adelaide.
Sightseeing

Visit a working opal mine, with a cutting and polishing demonstration, and the chance to purchase a memento of your visit. Coober Pedy is famous for clear white opals with plenty of internal sparkle. Tour an underground home or church, then journey to the lunar landscape of the Painted Desert and Breakaways - reminiscent of America’s Badlands. You’ll also visit the Dog Fence, which stretches across the continent from Queensland to Western Australia, preventing dingoes from invading the southern sheep-grazing regions.
