Kikoti Safari Camp
Camping

Tented camps are a way of life during African safaris, and Kikoti is one of the most luxurious. In Maasai, “kikoti” means “the place where life began.” Paying homage to both its natural setting in the game-rich wilderness and the Maasai community that has roamed this region for generations, Kikoti Tented Camp embodies a wonderful camp-fire-style hospitality enhanced with impeccable personal service. Each of the ten large tents has sewn-in floors and en-suite bathroom facilities and is perched on raised platforms of wooden timbers; private wooden decks usher in views of the wetlands in the valley below. Your two-day stay here introduces you to local Maasai people and the wildlife of the park, offering you the opportunity to try your hand at local cultural traditions while learning more about life in the African savanna.

Day 7 - Tanzania

Africa’s Garden of Eden.
Safari

One of the best places in Africa to spot the Big Five – elephants, leopards, lions, buffalo and the rare black rhinoceros – ancient Ngorongoro Crater is home to almost every species in Africa, except the giraffe who can't negotiate the steep incline down. A game drive and picnic lunch on the crater floor offer ample opportunities to spot lions, cheetahs, hippos and lots of birds. While the crater has been cradling Africa's wildlife for thousands of years, nearby Olduvai Gorge in the Great Rift Valley is thought to be the home of mankind's earliest "people." See the place where Louis and Mary Leakey found the fossilized remains of one of the first humans to walk upright and continue on to the exclusive tented camp – reserved just for you and your fellow travelers! Learn some Swahili tonight around the campfire, mastering such words as "jambo" (hello), "kwa heri" (goodbye), "simba" (lion) and "ninafurahia" (I am having a great time!).

Hotels

Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Lodging: Private Luxury Mobile Tented Camp, Serengeti National Park, Tanzania.

Private Luxury Mobile Tented Camp
Camping

The nights you’ll spend at an exclusive Luxury Mobile Tented Camp will take you as close to the heart of Africa as one can get and back in time to the days when the elite, privileged class enjoyed tented safaris in just this way. However – you’ll be far more comfortable than they ever were! Your accommodations are in spacious canvas tents featuring two twin beds with luxury linens and en suite facilities including a shower; they are lit by softly glowing lanterns rather than by electric lights. Nature will surround you as you dine under a sparkling canopy of stars on cuisine prepared by chefs who travel with the camp. You’ll sleep with the sounds of the African night that you’ll always remember all around you. Because the camp can – and does – move to follow the animals, your game-viewing opportunities at a private, mobile camp are unsurpassed. Sharing this special exclusive experience with your family will be a treasured memory for a lifetime!
