Detailed Trip Description

Your memorable journey begins in the fairytale capital of Denmark, Copenhagen. Explore picturesque Nyhavn and stroll the famous pedestrian streets. Prepare for a unique mix of Norway’s two finest cities, Oslo and Bergen. At the same time, thread through some of the most extraordinary fjords and spectacular mountains. Your travels end in the enchanting capital of Sweden, Stockholm. The city laced with cobblestone streets, palaces and abundant canals.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 - On the Plane

 
Commercial Flight

Overnight transatlantic flight from your U.S. gateway city.


Day 2 - Copenhagen

 
Arrival in Copenhagen.
Airport Transfer

Upon arrival in Copenhagen a transfer is included to your centrally located hotel. Take the remainder of the day to rest and explore this fantastic city.

Day 3 - Copenhagen

 
Sightseeing

After breakfast, meet your guide in the lobby between 8:30-10:00 am for your travel documents. At 1:30 pm leave for 3-hr city tour of Copenhagen. This introduction to the city includes the “Storget” – the pedestrian walking street, Tivoli Gardens, the National Museum, the Old Stock exchange, Nyhavn, Geifion Fountain, The Little Mermaid and both Christiansborg and Amelienborg Palaces.

Day 4 - Oslo

 
Copenhagen – Oslo.
Sightseeing

The morning is free to take a canal tour or get that last special souvenir.

Ferry

Mid afternoon take a transfer to the DFDS dock for your overnight ferry. A wonderful smorgasbord and delightful entertainment awaits! DFDS Seaways, Outside Cabins, B, D


Day 5 - Oslo

 
Oslo – Lofthus.
Ferry

Enjoy breakfast while sailing into the Oslo fjord.

Sightseeing

Disembark to your private coach and travel through Hønefoss, Nesbyen with its beautiful forests and lakes and the Hallingdal Valley. Continue on to Gol and the mountainside city of Geilo. The day culminates with a drive to the Hardanger fjord and ends in lovely Lofthus, home to Edvard Grieg’s many works.

Day 6 - Bergen

 
Lofthus – Bergen.
Bus

Rise for breakfast before taking a short ferry in Kinsarvik that weaves its way along the Hardanger fjord.

Sightseeing

After arriving in Kvandal continue by coach through Nordheimsund with its forests of birches, prior to reaching the hanseatic city of Bergen. Take a panoramic 3-hr tour of the city known as the capital of the fjords. Sites to see include St. Mary’s Church, Haakon’s Hall, The Fish and Flower Markets, and the old Bryggen area. The evening is yours to enjoy!

Day 7 - Bergen

 
Bergen – Flam – Balestrand.
Train

Awake for a day that won’t disappoint! Begin traveling to the historic town of Voss. From here you board the train that crosses an impressive mountain plateau en route to Myrdal. In Myrdal, connect to the famous Flam railway, descending down for spectacular view of the countryside.

Ferry

Take some time in this quaint fjord village before embarking on the ferry that crosses the mighty Sognefjord – the longest and deepest fjord in Norway. The journey culminates in dramatic city of Balestrand – on the edge of the stunning fjord!

Day 8 - Loen

 
Balestrand – Loen.
Ferry

Today’s journey begins with a drive to Dragsvik for another short ferry ride to Hella.

Sightseeing

Venture further through several picturesque villages and forests before arriving in Skei. Here lies Europe’s biggest mainland glacier, Jostedalsbreen. After relishing in a short retreat continue passed Loen and on to the breathtaking Briksdal Glacier. Get ready for an experience of a lifetime – a ride in a “Troll car” to the very snout of the glacier and witness firsthand the amazing blue ice.

Day 9 - Loen

 
Loen –Geiranger – Loen.
Sightseeing

Your memorable journey continues via Hella for the ferry that crosses the dramatic Geiranger Fjord. Experience first hand why this fjord is on the UNESCO’s World Heritage list, situated among lush mountains and breathtaking waterfalls. Enjoy lunch as you meander into unspoiled landscape near Geiranger at the famous Union Hotel. After lunch, travel by coach up 1500 meters above sea level, to see the fantastic view at Dalsnibba point.

Day 10 - Oslo

 
Loen – Oslo.
Sightseeing

Leave Loen for a visit to Norway’s oldest Stave church in Lom – dating back to the 12th century. Say farewell to the fjords area in central Norway and proceed via Otta to the unique capital city of Oslo!

Day 11 - Oslo

 
Sightseeing

Awake for an early morning 3-hr comprehensive city tour of the city idyllically situated by a fjord. Highlights include Holmenkollen for a panoramic view of the city and the famous ski jumps, the Viking Ship museum, Vigeland’s sculpture park, and a view of the Royal Palace and Karl Johan, the famous pedestrian street. Afternoon is free to explore this Viking capital at your own pace.

Day 12 - Stockholm

 
Oslo – Stockholm.
Sightseeing

Prepare for a dynamic day. Pass through the alluring Norwegian and Swedish forests to the region of many legends, Varmland. Then continue on to Karlstad and Mariefred for a short visit to the Gripsholm castle, dating back to the 16th century. Venture further through varied landscapes for a late day arrival in Stockholm.

Day 13 - Stockholm

 
Sightseeing

After another traditional Scandinavian breakfast, indulge in a 3-hr tour of this remarkable city known as “beauty on water” built on 14 islands. Sites included are visits to City Hall, known for the Nobel Peace Prize, the Cathedral, the 700 hundred year old seat of the archbishop, and a stroll through the cobblestoned streets of charming Gamla Stan. (Old Town) The afternoon is at your leisure – maybe make a visit to Djurgården or a canal boat tour.
