This is the most direct, fastest and steepest route to the summit. There are beautiful views of Kibo, the plains below and the Southern Glaciers.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 - Arusha

 
Mweka Gate {1500m} - Mweka Hut {3000m}.
Private Car Service

Drive along Uru Road passing KCMC Hospital and Mweka wildlife College arriving at Mweka Gate. {approx 140 km from Arusha Town}.

Hiking

After Introduction to guide and porters as well as Registration, start climbing with picnic packets passing through thick forest for approx 6 to 7 hours before arriving for dinner at Mweka Hut.

Camping

Overnight at Mweka Hut.


Day 2 - On Foot

 
Mweka Hut {300m} - Barafu Hut {4600m}.
Hiking

After breakfast, with lunch packets passing through thick - forest and small glacier for 5 to 6 hours arriving for dinner at Barafu Hut.

Camping

Overnight at Barafu Hut.


Day 3 - On Foot

 
Barafu Hut {4600m}-Stella Point {5750m}-Uhuru Peak {5895m}-Mweka Hut{3000m}.
Hiking

You are woken up as early as 1.00am for preparations and light breakfast before start for final ascent at 2.00am, passing through easy rocks and dense glacier arriving in 5 to 6 hrs to Stella Point and on to Uhuru Peak for another approx 45minutes.

Camping

After signing and short rest start descent to Barafu Hut for lunch enroute for dinner and overnight at Mweka Hut approx 4 hours.


Day 4 - Tanzania

 
Hiking

After breakfast, start final descent to the Mweka Hut where you bid farewell to guide and porters and connect with your onwards destination transfer.
