Trip Itinerary
Day 1 - On the Plane
In Flight.
Commercial Flight
Depart USA for Vietnam. The adventure begins!
Day 2 - On the Plane
In Flight.
Commercial Flight
Cross International Dateline; lose a day. Regain on the return flight home.
Day 3 - Hanoi
Hotel
You will arrive in Hanoi; you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Museums
After you are settled, you will be given a tour of the Ho Chi Minh Museum, Masoleum and the surrounding grounds. The rest of the afternoon is free.
Day 4 - Hanoi
Sightseeing
Today your guide will take you on a bicycle rickshaw tour of the Old Quarter. Then visit the Confucius Temple of Literature, which was the first University. In the back there is an excellent traditional Vietnamese music performance with the bamboo marimbas and other unique instruments. In the afternoon enjoy the Museum of Ethnology. The most unique features of this museum are full-size authentic minority homes, long houses, stilted houses, etc. that can be found on the grounds behind the museum, which you can enter and explore.

Day 5 - Vietnam
Sightseeing
Today drive into the lovely countryside to the Thai minority village, of Mai Chau. When you arrive you will meet your host family in whose stilted house home you will stay. You will eat with a local family.
Performing Arts
Evening: If you are fortunate, you may be there on a night where the local people celebrate with music, dance and a chance to drink their rice wine out of a large cask from one of numerous bamboo straws.
Day 6 - Vietnam
Mai Chau - Train to Sapa.
Sightseeing
Today visit a nearby village.
Bus
After you have spent enough time there we will drive you north to the train station for your late night train to Sapa.
Train
You will board the overnight train into the mountains northwest of Hanoi.
Day 7 - Vietnam
Sightseeing
Your train will arrive at the station near Sapa. There you will be picked up and taken through the countryside, where you will see some beautiful terraced farms.
Hotel
When you arrive in the village of Sapa you will be checked into your hotel.
Sightseeing
After you have had a chance to refresh you can go on a walking tour with your guide to the nearby villages and meet some local people.
Day 8 - Hanoi
Sapa - Train to Hanoi.
Sightseeing
Today you will continue to enjoy Sapa. Then you will be driven through the countryside to nearby villages to see more minority peoples.
Train
Then we will return you to the train station for your return ride to Hanoi.
Day 9 - Hanoi
Hanoi - Halong Bay.
Ocean Cruise
When you arrive in the train station you will be driven north to the Halong Bay area. There you will board your Halong Bay cruise through the spectacular islands, have lunch in the midst of the beautiful areas and visit the caves. in bay. You will sleep on the ship.
Day 10 - Hanoi
Halong Bay - Hanoi.
Sightseeing
Continue in gorgeous Halong Bay. You will explore more islands, caves and beautiful scenic spots.
Hotel
Then you will be driven back to Hanoi and return to your hotel.
Day 11 - Hanoi
Airport Transfer
Today you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home with a lifetime of wonderful memories!
