Trip Itinerary

Day 1 - Kota Kinabalu

 
Welcome to Kota Kinabalu.
Hotel

You arrive in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia! Your guide will meet and welcome you upon arrival and transfer you to the Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort for an overnight stay.


Day 2 - Kota Kinabalu

 
Snorkeling

Kota Kinabalu tour and half day Island snorkel. Today you will take a boat to a nearby island for snorkeling, scuba, and enjoying the island. B


Day 3 - Kota Kinabalu

 
Mt. Kinabalu Adventure - 1-day.
Bus

Depart in the early morning for a two hour journey through breathtaking scenery to Kinabalu Park.

Sightseeing

Upon arriving at Kinabalu Park, you can take a guided nature walk with the park's naturalist and your nature tour guide.

Food and Dining

Then you will have lunch at a local restaurant and in the afternoon, explore the mountain garden with your guide. B


Day 4 - Sandakan

 
Sandakan - Turtle Island.
Commercial Flight

In the morning you will fly to Sandakan.

Sightseeing

Your guide will pick you up and take you to visit the Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary to watch the feeding of orangutans. There is also an interesting information center there where they will show you a short, entertaining and educational video presentation of their rehabilitation program.

Ferry

After lunch we will take you on the one hour boat ride to Selingaan Turtle Island. You will have free time on the island until the evening.

Sightseeing

You can have dinner at the cafeteria while you are waiting for the park ranger to signal that it is turtle watching time. You will be able to observe the entire process of the turtle laying eggs and covering the hole, tagging of the turtle by the park ranger and the transferring of the eggs to the hatchery.

You will sleep in the chalet. B, L, D


Day 5 - Sandakan

 
Turtle Island - Sandakan - Sakau Adventure.
River, Barge or Yacht Cruise

After breakfast you will take the boat ride back to Sandakan. You will then be taken by boat around the east side of the island to Sukau for lunch and a short briefing on the Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary. In the afternoon, take a river cruise down the Menanggul River in search of proboscis monkeys, birds and other wildlife.

Food and Dining

Return at dusk for dinner.

Hotel

Overnight at the Kinabatangan Riverside lodge. (B, L, D).


Day 6 - Sandakan

 
Sandakan - Sakau Adventure.
Sightseeing

After breakfast, take a second boat trip for birdwatching and viewing wildlife at the Ox Bow Lake nearby.

Hiking

Trek the lush riverine forest along the lake and then return to the lodge for breakfast.

River, Barge or Yacht Cruise

Proceed overland to Gomantong Caves. In the afternoon, you can venture on another river cruise down the Menanggul River and along the Kinabatangan river. Return to the lodge at dusk. Evening at leisure.

Overnight at the Kinabatangan Riverside lodge. B, L, D.


Day 7 - Kota Kinabalu

 
Sandakan - Sakau adventure - Kota Kinabalu.
Sightseeing

After breakfast, depart by boat back to Sandakan. When you are there you can stop for a short visit to the War Memorial of the historic Death March of the Australian Prisoners of War.

Airport Transfer

Then you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to Kota Kinabalu.

Hotel

Upon arrival at Kota Kinabalu airport, you will be met and transferred to the Shangri-la Tanjung Aru Resort for overnight stay. B.


Day 8 - Kota Kinabalu

 
Airport Transfer

Today your guide will transfer you to the airport for your departure home, or to your next chosen destination. B.
