The tour provides an opportunity to explore what is popularly known as the Historic Route. You will get to explore the area by air & and parts of the South by land. In the historic route, you will be accommodated at hotels under the Ghion chain, all top of the line 3 star establishments. You will have also a trip to the Southern Part of Ethiopia along the Great Rift Valley, which is known for chains of lakes and abundant bird life.
Upon arrival in Addis Abba you will be met by one of our representatives who will assist you to board your flight to Arba Minch, Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 135 departing at 8:30am arrive at 10:10AM.
On arrival you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel.
Later in the day go for boat trip on Lake Chamo. On the ride you can spot many hippos and the world's most spectacular concentrations of Giant Crocodiles (as it is called locally "The Crocodile Market"). The water birds are great the scenery is truly unforgettable. Fishing for Nile Perch and many other species by locals on their traditional boat is by far the best in the country.
Overnight Bekele Molla Hotel. (Lunch, dinner)
In the morning, proceed to Nech Sar National Park for game driving and birding. A wide variety of plains game roams freely amongst mixes of savannah, dry bush and groundwater forest, which are also the habitat of 188 recorded species of birds. Animals to be seen are Bushbuck, Swayne's Hartebeest, Burchell's Zebra, Grant's Gazelle, Guenther's Dik-dik, Greater Kudu, Anubis Baboon, Grey Duiker. Birds seen include Red-billed Hornbill, Grey Hornbill Fish Eagle, Kori Bustard, Abyssinian Ground Hornbill and more.
Bekele Mola Hotel. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner).
After breakfast depart for Jinka, along the way visit the Tsemai, Hammar and Ari ethnic groups and their fascinating culture. Up on arrival; check in to Bekele Molla Hotel in Arba Minch. Arba Minch - means 'Forty Springs' in Amharic. Arba Minch took its name from the bubbling streams that cover the groundwater forest occupying the flats of the town. From your hotel you can enjoy panoramic views of the area of outstanding beauty and considered as Ethiopia's last great surviving wilderness.
Overnight at Jinka Resort. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner).
Morning drive to Mago National Park to visit different species of flora and fauna.
Then visit the Mursi village and the people who are well known for the large clay discs that the women wear, inserted in a slit in their lower lips. After the visit drive back to Jinka.
Overnight Jinka Resort Hotel. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner)
After breakfast drive to Yirgalem, one of the best coffee growing areas. The nearby forest is home to diverse, prolific flora and harbors over 100 spieces of birds and Mammals.
Overnight at Aregash Lodge. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner).
After breakfast drive back to Addis Ababa. This city was founded in 1886 by Emperor Menelik II, Addis Ababa is located at 2500m (8,202 ft.) above sea level. It enjoys an excellent climate all year round; with an average temperature of 160C. Addis Ababa is a pleasant city with wide avenues of Jacarandas, interesting museums and one of the largest open-air markets in Africa, known as Merkato. If time allows you will be able to have an afternoon tour of the city.
Overnight Ghion Hotel. (Breakfast).
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Gondar, Ethiopian Airlines ET 122 departing at 7:10am arriving at 8:40am.
Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to you accommodation, the drive to Sankaber to visit the Semien Mountains National Park.
Semien Mountains National Park - the mountains high lands constitute one of the major mountain masses in Africa. The region includes many summits above 4000 meters and culminates in the highest point in Ethiopia, Ras Dashen, at 4620 meters, the fourth highest mountain in Africa.
The drive will be up to the first camping site of Sankaber. You will see one of the endemic mammals, Gelada Baboon and the magnificent scenery in the National Park designated by UNESCO as world Heritage Site.
Overnight at Semien Park Lodge. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner)
After breakfast drive to Gondar, the 17th C capital of Ethiopia. King Fasiledes who still has a magnificent castle was the founder of Gondar in 1636. In Gondar, former capital of Ethiopia, we visit the castles, which were built in 17 century by several generations of Ethiopian Kings, the Debre Berhan Silassie Church with its beautiful Paintings of angelic ceilings, and the bath of Fasiledes at which thousands of Ethiopians celebrate Timket(Epiphany) festival every January.
Overnight Goha Hotel (Breakfast, lunch, dinner)
After breakfast transfer to Gonder Airport for your flight to Lalibela, Ethiopian Airlines ET 122 departing at 9:10am arrive at 9:40am.
Upon arrival you will be met and transfer to Roha Hotel which was the earlier name of the town of Lalibela. Here there are eleven rock hewn churches, registered by UNESCO as world heritage site. The churches are described by many travel writers as the eighth wonder of the world. They were hewn during King Lalibela in the 12th century which took 24 years to complete the construction. Visit the first group of the rock-hewn churches comprising: Bete Medehanialem, Bete Mariam, Bete Meskel, Bete Denagel, and Bete Michael & Golgota, sharing the same roof. These groups of churches are surrounded by courtyards and trenches, so that they mimic normal buildings. Several of these churches are monolith ices or three-quarter – free from the surrounding rock on three or four sides a style of excavation that is unique in Ethiopia.
Overnight Roha Hotel. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Morning tour in Lalibela, before flying to Addis Ababa on Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 127 departing at 3:30pm arrive Addis at 5:20pm.
You will be met on arrival and transfer to your hotel.
In the evening, you will be a guest in one of the traditional restaurants of Addis; Yod Abisinia to taste the cuisines of Ethiopian people and watch folk dances.
