Detailed Trip Description
Experience independently the history and the beauty of Italy by train. During this trip you will be enchanted by the most popular cities of Italy. Discover the majesty of the ancient architecture of Rome, marvel at Michelangelo's Davide in Florence, and wonder at waterways of Venice, a city built on the water. Between seeing the highlights of these cities relax at the beautiful Villa Scacciapensieri, set amidst the vineyards of Tuscany and explore the Tuscan city of Siena.
Trip Itinerary
Day 1 - Rome
Arrive Rome. Spend the afternoon exploring Rome. Three overnights at the Principe di Piemonte or Similar, including breakfast.
Day 2 - Rome
During an afternoon walking tour of Rome you will discover all of the ancient treasures of this imperial city.
Day 3 - Rome
Day at your own leisure to explore Rome. We would suggest an excursion to the Vatican City (Optional).
Day 4 - Siena
Travel by train to Siena. Spend the afternoon relaxing at the Villa Scacciepensieri overlooking Siena and the Tuscan Hills. Two overnights at the Villa Scacciapensieri in a room at the Villino, including breakfast.
Day 5 - Siena
Day at leisure to explore Siena or tour a vineyard (Optional).
Day 6 - Florence
Take a train into Florence. Spend the Afternoon at your leisure. Three overnights at the Hotel Alba or similar, including breakfast.
Day 7 - Florence
This morning you have a tour of Florence to see the highlights of the city including the Accademia. Afternoon at leisure.
Day 8 - Florence
Full day at leisure to explore Florence. You can also take an excursion to Pisa to see the city's Leaning Tower (optional).
Day 9 - Florence
Travel by rail to Venice. Spend the afternoon at your leisure exploring Venice. Three overnights at the Hotel Locanda Querini or similar, including breakfast.
Day 10 - Venice
Enjoy a morning walking tour of Venice to see the highlights of the city. Afternoon at leisure.
Day 11 - Venice
Time at your own leisure to explore Venice. We suggest taking a water taxi to visit the islands of Murano, Burano, and Torcello and watch the master craftsman making beautiful creations of blown glass.
Day 12 - Venice
Depart Venice for the USA.
