This 11-day vacation starts with three nights in the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. Enjoy a welcome dinner, excursions to Amman and its Archaeological Museum, Jerash, Um Quais, and John the Baptist’s Baptismal Archaeological Park in Bethany Beyond-the-Jordan, where Jesus was immersed in the baptismal springs. Next, travel to Moses’ Mount Nebo, the Madaba Archaeological Museum, and Mukawir, where Salome danced and John the Baptist was imprisoned and beheaded. Continue via Wadi Mujib and the Crusaders Castle of Kerak to Petra, where a full day of guided sightseeing in the “rose-red city” is included. Full day of guiding sightseeing in Old Cairo. Visit the “Hanging Church” (El-Muallaqa) and St. Sergius Church, said to stand above a crypt which sheltered the Holy Family during their flight from Egypt (Matt. 2:13-23).
Then visit the Coptic Museum as well as the St. Merurius Church (Abu Seifein) with its extraordinary collection of icons and Coptic art.
