Leave London in the early morning and head through the lush English countryside to the Channel port, where you board your ferry for the Continent. Here your Tour Director and comfortable coach wait to take you to Brussels for an overnight. (B)
Brussels, the modern center of the European Union, still has Old-World charm. Enjoy the sights, including the Grand’Place and the Mannekin Pis, on your morning city orientation.
Later, travel south via Heidelberg for a stop, then through the delightful scenery of the Black Forest for an overnight. (B,D)
Today’s itinerary is studded with quite a few highlights. Travel into the heart of the Black Forest for a stop to admire the small but lovely Lake Titisee. Then travel further south into Switzerland to see the mighty Rhine Falls. Next, move eastward into the tiny but hugely wealthy Principality of Liechtenstein for a stop in its capital, Vaduz.
By evening you’ll be in the Lake Lucerne area for two overnights. (B,D)
Your visit takes in the impressive city walls, a covered wooden bridge, ornate patrician houses lining cobblestone streets, and the Lion Monument. Don’t miss the boat trip on the fjord-like lake. A grand selection of optional activities completes the day: a cable car ride to the 10,000-foot summit of Mount Titlis, a typical folklore evening.
