Machame route is a camping route climbed over a minimum of six days (five mountain nights). The route starts from the southern slopes of Kilimanjaro and has one of the highest summit success rates of all the Kili routes because of the up and down nature of the climb - hike high and sleep low. Climbers ascend (up) on Machame route and descend (down) on Mweka route, experiencing more of the Kilimanjaro mountain terrain en-route. Machame has stunning scenery with great views of western Kilimanjaro, the distant Usambara Mountains and Mt Meru - a surprise above the clouds at sunset. Changing vegetation, valleys and glaciers are also features of this route. There is an almost sheer wall to greet climbers at breakfast on day four (Baranco wall). However, it's easier than it looks and feels fantastic to reach the top then level out below the glacier. When on the Mweka descent, the trail from Mweka camp to the gate is well defined. If legs are still functioning, the distance can be covered quite quickly, to be back in the Moshi hotel for a celebration Kilimanjaro beer by mid morning. We provide certified guides, experienced mountain teams and quality mountain equipment. Climbers provide the legs, the stamina and the determination to reach the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The climb route does not require technical mountaineering skills but does require a good level of fitness in order to enjoy the experience. Private climbs for a minimum of 2 people booking. Airport transfers and hotel nights are included in the climb package.
